After living interstate for sometime I was amazed at the joy of rediscovering Melbourne, my ‘home’ city.
Yes, there was change, but it was the buildings I knew, the familiar laneways, the light, and above that there was the energy a passion. I found delights around each corner, discoveries there to be had. Visual cameos of history and life happening right before your eyes. The rediscovery of what I had once taken for granted was to a great degree not really “seen” as inspiring or something of beauty.
I’m sure this is true of any place we return to after an absence, but for me this last time, Melbourne was magnified, I was alive with a renewed passion and an appreciation of a vibrant and unique city.
